Picking A Suit To Put On In The Office
There have been many articles written about the interview suit. People love to talk about the power suit and all of its glory. Its no mystery as to why the power suit is glorified. The reason is that many people never need to buy anything other than the power suit since they won’t have to wear a suit once they have gotten the job. Many people don’t bother to learn how to look good in a suit on a daily basis because they really don’t need to know.
Unfortunately, there are not many articles on wearing a suit to the office. While many companies no longer require people to wear suits to work, many others do. Somebody that wears a suit five days a week shouldn’t have a closet that consists of a power suit and nothing else. They need to wear a good office suit to work each day.
I wrote this article to talk about what kinds of suits folks can wear to work. I’ll talk about the suits you would want to wear to a very formal job and the suits you would wear to one that is slightly more relaxed.
Colors will need to be changed up regularly so that it doesn’t look like you only have one suit. The navy blue pinstripe suit might look good on Monday, but by Friday people will start to wonder why you are still wearing the same suit. To help solve this problem, you can wear suits in charcoal gray and black and you can add or subtract pinstripes to them.
There are some office environments that will not allow their employees to wear shirts that aren’t blue or white. When working in these settings, you’ll just have to vary the look up with the use of different ties. You’ll find that less formal environments will allow you to wear shirts that vary from white and blue. Don’t go overboard, but branch out to light yellows, off whites, and light pink.
Be sure to keep in mind that your office clothing does not need to be bought in one shopping trip. Just get enough to allow you to change your clothes up throughout the week. After this you can slowly add to the wardrobe as you get more money and a better feel for what you like to wear.
Bonus Tip: Always keep an extra white shirt and a tie in your office or your car if necessary. This will ensure that you never have to worry about walking around the office with a coffee stain or food stain on your shirt or tie.
